Privacy Policy for Video-NYC
Effective date: September 14, 2025
Who we are
Our website address is: https://video-nyc.com (referred to below as “Video-NYC”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). We are a cinematic wedding videography and photography team offering services, blog content, and media examples for clients and visitors.
What personal data we collect
We collect different types of information depending on how you use the site:
- Comments and contact forms: When visitors leave comments or contact us, we collect the data shown in the comment/contact form (for example name, email, message) plus the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection and troubleshooting.
- Account information: If you register on the site (for example to make bookings or manage content), we store the information you provide in your user profile (name, email, contact details and other profile fields).
- Media uploads: If you upload images (for example when providing examples or as part of a submission), the file and any metadata included with it may be stored on the site.
- Log data: We automatically collect technical data about your visit — pages viewed, referring site, IP address, device and browser information — which helps us improve and secure the site.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (a “hash”) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check whether you are using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture (if any) may be visible publicly next to your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images posted on the site. We are not responsible for location metadata included in images uploaded by users.
Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to improve site function and your experience. Specific examples:
- If you leave a comment you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies for your convenience. These cookies last for one year.
- When you visit our login page we set a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies; this cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- When you log in we set cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login persists for two weeks.
- If you edit or publish an article an additional cookie is saved in your browser indicating the post ID you edited; it expires after one day.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of the site.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example videos, images, social feeds, or articles). Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you visited the other website directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracking if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
We only share personal information when necessary and as described below:
- Service providers that help run the website (hosting, analytics, email delivery, spam filtering). These parties process data on our behalf and are contractually required to protect your information.
- If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email to help detect suspicious activity.
- We may share information to comply with laws, respond to lawful requests (e.g., court orders), or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Video-NYC, our users, or the public.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For registered users, we retain profile information for as long as the account exists. For other data (logs, backups), retention times vary by system and provider but are kept only as long as reasonably necessary for operations, security, or legal compliance.
Your rights
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you provided to us. You can also request that we erase personal data we hold about you, subject to our obligations to retain certain information for administrative, legal, or security reasons. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.
Where your data is sent
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. We may transmit data to third-party services (for example analytics providers or hosting partners) located inside or outside your country. Where required, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate safeguards for international transfers (for example contractual protections).
Security
We take reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect the personal information we hold. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Our site is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take steps to remove the information.
Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Effective date” at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the site or communicated by other reasonable means.
